Question for Super Mario 64 DS

Okay, so I have 32 stars and I've defeated the first Bowser (not the second yet). How do I get the ? Switch. When I go to the sun carpet and press A or B, I look up and I get the text of hearing a voice, but then nothing happens. What do I need to do.

Gee, you don't know this? Your supposed to press X to go into First-person mode, not A or B! Then with the Control Pad, press ^ on it until the screen turns white. It means you were successful. You know you only needed like ten stars or something like that, right? Jump on the switch to activate every block that you passed that was ghostly. Make sure your Mario, according to the message you were listening to all the time.

Press X and look up (with Mario) and you wil be Mario with wings. Fly down to the castletop hit the ?switch and all the red ?boxes will become solid.
