Question for Super Mario 64 DS

I let Mario stare into the light at the lobby of the castle, to get to the Wing Cap Tower, but when he stares into the light, I'm not getting transported to Wing Cap Tower. Please answer this question A.S.A.P.! I must know right away! Please and thank you.

Anyone who tried to answer this question, sorry for wasting time. I got there already at Wing Cap Tower.

You have press the x button and look up into the light, that will get you to Wing Cap Tower.
PS. You have to be Mario!!!
