as mario have 20 stars and go to the first room. there should be a big beam of sun light shining ing. go into first person mode and look into the sun. hit the red swicht and you got it.
After I came up from the basement there was a light shining out on the carpet in the middle of the main lobby of the interior of the castle.
I presume you have to get at least 20 Stars to see it, because I had 21 when I came back up and saw it.
In the main hall there should be a light coming down from the ceiling once you have 20 stars.
Look up into it and you will enter the Wing Cap course.
The Wing Cap is below where you start off.
After you have 20 stars, there should be a beam of light, as Mario, go into the light, click X to have a closer look.
Then look up at the sun, it will take you to a place and you will see a low tower and 4 higher towers surrounding it, go to the center tower and hit the red ? switch.
