Question for Super Mario 64 DS

I think there is something wrong with my game SUPER MARIO 64 DS for the NINTENDO DS.

The game starts you off with four lives right? Well, when I lose a life or lives and save the game then exit.

It puts me where I left off and restarts my
lives to four.

My question here is, is this in every game?

This is good, because when I get to zero lives, all that I have to do is to save and exit and restarts my lives to four, I can't lose!

So is this restart lives, in every game or is it just mine? This is for the NINTENDO DS!!

Yes this is a true thing.

Every time you die or restart, you start out again with only 4 lives.

Even if you get 100 lives, after you restart it always comes back to 4.
