If I remember correctly, you have to wall-kick your way up. It's very difficult, but possible.

Its easier to finish it if you have luigi go into the room with the books there will be a platform stand on it after make your character do a backwards jump there will be another platform jump on that there will be a dorr go through it and then there will be a picture of luigi go in and complete
