wing cap and the ? boxes

Ok I know that to make the ? Boxes solid, you have to go to the circle star thingy in the castle but when I do it say:
" there is a voice from above saying hey.... Mario..."
What does that mean? What do I have to do to gewt uo there?
PLEASE HELP ME!!!

You have to be playing as Mario.

It mean that you have to be Mario(you'll see why)

First, press X and loox up. Then use the control pad to fly down to the tower. Hit the switch to solidify the boxes.

PS: There is also 8 red coins, if you want an extra star.

you are wrong when you go to the sun beam it says hey...mario.... and you cannot fly up (when playing mario)

You have 2 be mario because when I was usin ar I was yoshi and went to the place.....me died because mario only has wing cap.

i need help beacuse i got 49 stars in super mario 64 ds and it still says '' a voice from above is saying hey mario ''. it wont do anything!! Please please please help me!!! it would mean the world to me and i lovee this game!! :'(

The same happened to me. You have to change your controller mode. It can't b in standard. Try touch mode then while your standing in the middle. Press x and look up =)

You do have to be mario and you have to stand under the light. Press X and UP ARROW.
