How the hell do you get chaos emeralds!?

You need to find the spinny things that take you to the special stage(they look like circles with a stick you can grab onto)then you hold down the x button until you get sucked into the special stage. Then grab your stylus and do it. When you get to the end there's a chaos emerald. Note: you can only get chaos emeralds as Sonic and there's only one chaos emerald in each zone(Obviously).
