I want to start battleing conpetitivly online but I need some pointers on how to make a good team. Any suggestions

Well, you should first decide what Type of Pokemon Team you would like. There are many Types of Pokemon Teams (Offensive, Defensive, and Balanced).
Offensive Teams consist of Pokemon with High Speed Stats and High Attack/Speical Attack Stats. These Types of Teams try to hit as hard as they can and as fast as they can. Pokemon on these Types of Teams include Zoroark and Garchomp. I like this Type of Pokemon Team the best.
Defensive Teams consists of Pokemon with High Defense/Special Defense Stats. These Types of Teams try to slowly defeat the other Pokemon by using moves such as Toxic and/or Leech Seed. Pokemon on these Types of Teams include Dusknoir and Ferrothorn.
Balanced Teams consist of Defensive Pokemon, Offensive Pokemon, Healing Pokemon, and/or Physical Tanks. Healing Pokemon are Pokemon that can heal other Pokemon on there team with moves such as Wish and/or Heal Bell. Physical Tank Pokemon are Pokemon like Snorlax.
After you decide what Type of Pokemon Team you want, you can start researching Pokemon to have on your Team. I would like to advise you that some Legendary Pokemon aren't allowed in Competitive Play.

Weel for staters you should research your pokemons stranghts and weaknesses and find your advantage points with them I whould recommend at least one water one grass and one fire type in your team and a flying type a electric type and a dragon type if you have them cheers!!!!!! Thunderpanther
