When I have 3 Pokemon dead, and 3 alive, how do I put the ones that are..

Hello,to switch to the Pokemon that aren't fainted;when the game asks you in a battle if you want to "Switch"or "Shift"Pokemon say yes and scroll to a Pokemon in your "Party"and press the "A" button.It will say something like (example):Shift Pikachu? Then click "A" to use Pikachu in the battle instead of the Pokemon that is in battle,then the Pokemon that was in battle goes back in it's pokeball and into your party.You can "Shift" or switch(switching Pokemon and shifting Pokemon are the same thing)Pokemon anytime during battle uless an opponent's ability prevents you from shifting Pokemon such as the ability Shadow Tag;even some types of moves prevent you from escaping.To switch Pokemon while not in a battle press the "X" button and press "A" on the title thats says "Pokemon" with a pokeball to the left of the lettering.Now you will be shown your "Party"or otherwise known as the Pokemon you have with you currently.Now scroll to a Pokemon you want to switch(Note:The Pokemon in the very top left corner is the one that will get thrown into battle if you are challenged by a trainer or run into any wild Pokemon,and if you go into "Tall Grass" or are challenged to a "double battle" wich is the dark green grass,the Pokemon in the very top right corner will be thrown out with the Pokemon at the very top left corner)with and press "A" it will say summary,switch,item,and quit,the one you want to press "A" on is switch.Your Pokemon's rectangular structure that it is in will be highlighted green.Now to swicth you go over to the Pokemon that you want to switch with and press "A" on it and the pokemons will be switched.Sorry if this was a little confusing.
