Is it possible to not update your AR and still be able to use codes for Pokemon white? And they work?

No, not really. You'll need that firmware update for the AR to even be compatible with the Pokemon White game. No ways around it aside from buying a completely new AR, and even those might not have the right firmware.

I wouldnt attemt to try that, it's not going to give you more than no effct or it will freeze your game, without the updates required it wont work the way you would like it to.

You could get a new ar, but that might not work... If your trouble is that you lost the cable and/or disc just get a new ar, same kind, and use that cable and disc on yours to update.
