Question for Pokemon Soul Silver
If I catch a Pokemon in FireRed and transfer it to SoulSilver, will it learn the moves from the third generation or the fourth generation?

While on FireRed, it will learn moves according to it's FireRed/LeafGreen moveset. Once transfered to SoulSilver it will learn moves according to it's HeartGold/SoulSilver moveset.

After you Transfer your Pokemon, it will learn the moves for the Fourth Generation. Whatever game your Pokemon is on, it will learn the moves based on the Generation of the Game it is on.
