You mean trading? If it's in game all he has to do is find the Pokemon the person wants. When he talks to them he needs to make sure the Pokemon they want is in his party. If it's GTS or long distance trading then he needs to have a wifi connection. You need the other person's palpad number if it's trading over wifi. If he wants to trade with GTS he can't do that until hes gotten to Goldenrod City. The last way of trading all you need is two DS and compatible games. Then he needs to go downstairs in the Pokemon Center to the Union room and do a trade with the game in the other DS. Other then that he can't give Pokemon away.
If he wants to get rid of Pokemon in his party then he just needs to place them in the PC which can be found in the Pokemon Center. When he clicks on the PC he needs to click on the option that says either Bill's PC or Someone's PC. From there he can store Pokemon in PC boxes or release the Pokemon. If he does release a Pokemon then he'll never be able to get it back.

Now he has to go to the second lady from the left and talk to her. After she is done talking, your son has to save the game, overwrite, and go in. Now, your son can only do this once he has gotten to Cherrygrove City and has at least 1 Pokemon. Your son can trade with his friends if they have the game too! They just have to meet the requirements and be at the Union Room at the same time. There are some people in the game who will want to trade too, and they are scattered all over the place, but there are only 2 or 3 of them. There are 2 other ways to trade, too. The second one is the Global Trade Station, but this has different requirements. First, you need Wi-Fi Connection, you need to have at least 1 Pokemon, and you need to have reached Goldenrod City. Now here is how to use it. Your son has to go to the Global Trade Station in Goldenrod City and go to the lady at the desk near the top-left corner. Talk to her and get into the Global Trade Station after saving the game. Follow the steps of choosing the Pokemon you want. Then choose the person you want. If you have the Pokemon they want, then do the trade, and your son will get the Pokemon you want. The last way is to trade over Wi-Fi Connection, and your son will need Wi-Fi Connection, at least 1 Pokemon, and has at least been to Cherrygrove City. Now, go to the Union Room and do the same with no. 1, but this time you can trade with people wirelessly. Now if the purpose of your son trading is to get rid of the Pokemon, then you can put them in your PC and click on your Pokemon, choosing the option, " Release".
