Personally, I would try using a medium first. Move your GBA Pokemon to a Pearl/Diamond copy, then to your Platinum. I can't really tell you why your Pokemon wouldn't show up on a Platinum copy.

Try migrating your GBA Pok�mon to a version that is compatible with Pok�mon Platinum, then trade. But, nonetheless, why wouldn't it show up? I might be able to tell why if you tell me which GBA game you are using.
