How do you pick up an item the dowsing machine has found?
I can find an item so that it is right at the centre of the cross hairs. What do I do next? Help me please!

If it's right at the centre of the cross hairs, then it means you're standing on it, so take one step in any direction, turn (but don't take any more steps) to face where the item is, and press A. You should pick it up.
So yeah, just press A to pick it up as if it's an item you can actually see.

You use it once. If you find an item ON THE APP then try and go in that direction. Keep using it and going in the direction of the item and you should eventually find it.
