About trading over WiFi

I noticed that perfectly legit Pokemon won't trade at all. For instance, I was going to give someone a dragonair (no gender or level specifide) for a Darkrai, and I could not use the Dragonair. I also tried to get a Moltres using a Vespiquen, but again, I couldn't use the Vespiquen. What is wrong exactly?

Comment:(Nov 18 2009) After reading the answer, I may have to add a few deatils. None of the pokemon on my Platinum are hacked. I obtained my own Darkrai through the Wi-Fi event, and my Shaymin the same way as well. All of my pokemon are caught in game or obtained through legit trade.

Did you use an action replay to get these pokemon? Sometimes hacked Pokemon won't trade.

Glaceon answered:

All I know is that if the Pokemon you're going to trade DOESN'T have the same Secret ID as you, then it wont trade. Secret ID makes sure the Pokemon is YOURS and not hacked. To find your Secret ID, use your AR and download a corresponding code such as 'money amount changes to Secret ID'. Only way to legitly find your Pokemon's Decret ID is to check Trainer Info on Pokemon Battle Revolution for Wii. Good luck. To respond to your comment, you can only trade YOUR Pokemon, not Pokemon you traded from another game, because the Secret ID is different.

Then how come sometimes the O.T. is different from the offerer? I've seen it. Ex. O.T.: Zachary
Item: Kelpsy Berry
Offerer: Mackenzie
See what I mean? A Pokemon can be traded twice. This happened with my Palkia. I could have traded the Skorupi my brother lent me and I use Platinum, he uses Diamond.
Ninetailed Fox answered:

I have this problem with my Platinum. It could be a bug/glitch in the version because, I have no trouble trading with my Pearl and Diamond versions on the GTS.

Beta X answered:
