Perplexity regarding available Pokemon

So I'm just about to head out of jublife city for the first time, and I do not have a guide. I am seeking to add a water or a grass Pokemon to my team before the next gym but I do not know if there is a viable option within my reach at the moment. Please help?

Comment:(Jun 3 2009) P.s. My old diamond guide said Budew was available just north of Jublife. Does the same hold true for Platnium?

First of all, I applaud your excellent word choice. Kudos to you. (Hypothetically, not on the site. ^_^)

Now, if you're leaving jubilife, on route 203 the only water type Pokemon you will find is Magikarp, by fishing with the old rod.
There are kricketot, which are bug and learn grass moves If I remember correctly, but since they aren't the Grass TYPE they may not yield the attributes you seek.

hellfire17 answered:

You can also get a psyduck. They are very common in the cave you have to go through to get to oreburgh.

Pokemonhacker68 answered:

Psyducks are located in Oreburgh cave
You can get a macikarp by going West () of jublife, right before the cave.

hacker_o1_XD answered:

You can't get a water type like austinanymons said, but you can get a budew if you go north (up) from jubilife. If I remeber correctly, all a kricketot will know is bide and growl so I don't think that would be a good choice if your like me and don't like to use moves like growl. If you do though then you can use growl to lower your opponents attack then use bide so you can survive the attacks from your opponents while your waiting for bide to come into affect

hacker_o1_XD answered:

Yes you can get Budew going north from Jubilife in Platinum

Glacia answered:

You can find Psyduck in caves near water like hacker-o1-XD said, and there are Budew on rt.204 mostly the east side, just as your Diamond guide says.
