It depends. When you search for codes, you should check what buttons you need to press, or what you have to do to activate the code. For example, I make codes using pokesav, and those codes are activated when you press L+R in-game. When I finish making the code, I input it on my AR code manager, on the game it is for, and then I connect my DS and drag the game with the new cheat from the codelist/computer to the ds/action replay. This overwrites the game with the new cheat it. Then I disconnect my ds and select the codes I want to use by pressing A on the AR's list of codes.
