Question for Pokemon Platinum
Is this game going to be the exact thing as Diamond and Pearl execept Girantina being the main legendary? Also, does anyone know when a new region is coming out?

No it isn't there are a lot of new features and a slightely different storyline.
As to a new region I am not sure.

There's alot more to Platinum than Giratina being the main legendary. For example, the storyline is different. For your 2nd question, there hasn't been any conformation on a new region yet. You will just have to wait.

If you want to know about everything in Platinum just go to serebii.net, they have really good information, plus, I have it and it is much better than DP.
The other region would probably be announce on 2010 or 2011, since nintendo predicts that sells will drop for the DS, and every new Pok�mon generation/region, comes out in new consoles.

First the storyline will be way different, and there really wont be a main Legendary, more will just get attention more than the other Pokemon, like all other games. As for a new region being release it's not certain they are just now remaking Gold, Silver and Crystal. It will be in 2010 or maybe late 2009 before they start talking about another Pokemon game.
