Question for Pokemon Pearl

Has anyone ever tried to and successfully used the move 'last resort' I tried to use it on my Ambipom. I know that it says only usabl when all other moves are gone or whatever, but I had zero PP left in all his moves except for last resort, and everytime I tried to use it I would get "Ambipom used last resort....But it failed" So I figured that maybe it had to be the last move left out of all the pokemon. So I went and put the other five away and just had Ambipom with 4/5 last resort left. But went I got into a battle and used it I got the same "but it failed" message. What do I have to do to get it to work?

I just checked on serebii, and nothing there suggests that it has a less than 100% hit ratio, meaning it should work. If you had no other pp left on that particular pokemon... I don't know why it didn't work, unless maybe you can't have any pp restorers on you...

Try using calm mind or something that makes the stats or hit ratio improve.

Yes I checked there as well and I though hey 130 damage 100 accuracy stabbed, sweet. But one can tell when something misses, and when it's not meant to work. It was the same feeling as using dream eater when the other guy isnt asleep. I guess maybe thats right PP restores ethers and the like, or maybe it can only be used in the battle tower or something. But I would like a definitive answer if anyone is able to get one.
