Question for Pokemon Pearl

OK. I need help with this. I used the cheat to get all the items and it gave me the lunar wing. I went to Canalave City and talked to the sailor because I hadn't yet gone to Full Moon Island. He said "That lunar wing, take it to my son please. I went inside and pressed A on the son and it said the thing about Darkrai. Then I talked to the mom and she blabbered and then nothing. I can't give it to them! What do I do? Please answer ASAP!

I would try to toss the item and before that save just in case
