UmbreonDude_ answered:

It's for triggering the ghost in there, and with the Emerald in the GBA Slot, you have a chance to encounter a Gengar.

RevengeRacer answered:

I don't know why but if you go back there after getting the National Dex and with a GBA game in the slot, you have a chance at finding a Gengar in the room

notcow answered:

Thats where you catch a gengar if you have Pokemon firered or leafgreen in the GBA slot.

demonchild1214 answered:

Its a ghost pokemon.Thats the room that when putting a leafgreen catridge in gengar would appear there.

wiffyboy answered:

Yes, there is a Gengar in there, in that room when you have a FR/LG/E/R/S inserted, Gengar appear in that room.

DREKEKE answered:

Not only that but if you look at it the picture looks like a sealeo instead of a gengar but yea you can find him in there after nat.dex is obtained and you have a game inserted
