Pokemon Pearl Questions

My cousin recetly purchased a GamBoy SP, with it a game of Pokemon titled "Pokemon PERLA". I played the game and noticed that it was somehow like Pokemon Sapphire version. It is also played in the Hoen Region and the proffesor is also Birch, and trainers are also the same..even the map.The dad is also the Petalburg gym leader. Though the next town after Littleroot (the home) is called the ROCK Town. The gameplay is also the same..you have to go to the top of Rock Town and there waits your "rival" and after the fight you go home, acquire the pokedex and running shoes, etc. The problem is : when I arrived at Petalburg, I cannot go inside the gym. I have already talked with the guy who always bring me back to the gym. I have talked to the lady who is looking for WALLY..and I can't find him! He won't come out of my dad's gym and I cannot come in!!!!
<BR>Do you think the game itself is defective? Is it some kind of a "pirated" version? But it was purchased in the toy section of a reputable mall here. If the game is not defective..then why can't I go inside the gym? What should I do? There is no other route to take. Please help!

Well, what color is the cartridge or label on it or the box? If you bought it from a reputable place wherever you are, because I can't tell, then it should be in decent condition. Does it have a Nintendo label or info on it? I seriously doubt that Pearl would be so much like Sapphire.

Perla is "Pearl" in other languages, so maybe it's a foreign pirated game? Or it was used as a name for a foreign language game.

In Sapphire you couldn't go to Petalburg gym until later in the game, it's your 5th badge so you cannot battle Norman (the dad) until after you've gottten your 4th badge, so that could be your problem, not the game. Maybe it's just a pirated version of Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald and they called it Perla to get excited but uninformed Pokemon fans to buy it, especially since games can never be returned when opened and you got ripped off?

I doubt the game is defective since it's working OK for the most part, but if you can't find some sort of Nintendo logo or trademark or something tangible you may not want to risk ruining your DS to play an old game anyway.

If you live near where it was bought, go back and ask them what the deal is-if they can't give you a believable answer then I'd worry and try to get your money back or tell them you'll report them to Nintendo! We don't even have a release date for Diamond/Pearl as far as I know, but it's definitely not in the US as of yet. Spring 2007 was the last thing I heard for a release date.

I think you got gyped, or your cousin did, if he already had the game it is or paid a lot because it was supposedly "new". Sapphire was a great game though...
