Question for Pokemon Pearl

I already defeated the E4 and the camp, and I also already went all the way to the last room of the Volcano and yet my rival doesn't appear in the Fight Area, why's that?

Your Rival will be in the Fight Area, looking to battle you, on the Weekends. He cannot be found on the Weekdays in the Fight Area.
