Question for Pokemon Pearl

I have one Pokemon in my party. When I hit LR and go to the mining museum and talk to the scientest, he won't give to me. Does anyone know what happened?

Maybe you forgot to give the fossil to the man. Try looking in your items for it. Also you should try shutting your game off and trying again. Or maybe you haven't givin it enough time.

I don't see why only having one Pokemon in your party matters, nor do I see where hitting L and are have anything to do with your problem.
Give the man a fossil, then exit the museum. Re-enter and he will give you a Pokemon.
