It varies from each game just keep walking and you should get there
It is not how many steps. When you first get off the boat at Fullmoon island go to the enterance where you first see Cressila but don't go in. Go right (with walk through walls cheat) across the water it will take less than a minute if you keep going right you will hit land. It is New moon island go in the woods entrance and there is Darkrai.
I would say hundreds but you'll get there when you do on your map it should look like two eyes. Also if you run into the wall you can do the matrix............
So where or how do you get these codes? Do I need a game shark?
