Date of Question: Jun 12 2008 | Question ID: 120250

Just a quick question here... Whats the easiest way to catch a munchlax? I have tried slathering honey on sweet trees and haven't found it. I heard it's supposed to be even rarer than the female combee, but thats the one I got on the first try! Please help (in need of snorlax)!

You could keep doing that. That is the only thing I know of. (Besides cheating) Hey, if it makes you feel better, I haven't found one either. Hope I've helped!

Encountering a Muchlax at a Honey tree is extremely unlikely, something like one in one hundred chances, so you are going to have to slather a lot of trees with a lot of honey before you find Muchlax unless you get lucky on one of the first times you do it. The only thing you really can do is stock up on honey and just be patient that you don't find a Muchlax right away.

The easiest way that you could catch a Munchlax is to just go play Pokemon Fire Red or Pokemon Leaf Green, capture the Snorlax on that game, and then migrate the overgrown cat Pokemon to your Pokemon Pearl file. That would be the easiest way as you do not have to wait Twelve hours before a Pokemon to show up at a Honey tree, and it turns out that you did not even want the Pokemon that showed up. If you are determined to keep trying to capture a Munchlax by using the Honey Tree method, then all I can say to you is good luck, and I hope that you get really lucky because that is what it requires. If you are just looking for a Munchlax so that you can add him to your Pokedex, then your rival will have a Munchlax in the later portions of the game.

Hope this helps.

It is really hard to get a Munchlax in Pokemon Diamond or Pearl without either cheating, migrating or breeding.

For migrating, you need to obtain a Munchlax in any of the GameBoy Advance Games (Ruby, Saphire, Leaf Green, Fire Red, Emerald, etc) and then beat the Elite Four in Diamond/ Pearl. Once you do this, go to the migration center down to the southern edge of the map. You may have tried to go there once before, but it was blocked or closed. Then just do what the people tell you!

Breeding is another way. Simply get a Snorlax (somehow, probably best to migrate from another game) and a ditto of the opposite gender and slap 'em in the DayCare. Soon, you will get a message that an egg was lain. Just hatch the egg and you have your Munchlax.

Make sure when you are breeding your snorlax he/she is holding the full inscence from my experience it doesnt matter which sex is holding the item, I got mine through breeding a male holding the item with ditto XD

If you would like a snorlax you could post a thread in the Pokemon trading forum asking for one, they are reasonably common and Im sure someone will happily trade one to you, including myself XD
