Oh my god, please try and read the message that appears on the screen whenever you click on the new game option. If you do actually take the time to read the short message that appears in the box, you will see exactly how you are supposed to go about deleting your game. Then again, other Pokemon players have often had trouble understanding what it is exactly that they are supposed to do. So, I guess that the fault is Nintendo's for not more making there instructions more clearer. If you want to delete your current save file and start a new game, you must go to the Title Screen. The Title screen is the screen in every video game where it shows the title of the game, and it tells you to press the start button. If you press the buttons that the message tells you to, then you should erase your old game file.
Hope this helps.
