A smiley face means either two things. One, your Pokemon likes you a lot or two, your Pokemon was lucky enough to get infected by Pokerus, the Pokemon Disease. To treat this disease, here is what you do...nothing. Let the disease run it's course, and while it does you go out and fight some trainers, because while infected with Pokerus, Pokemon level up a lot faster than normal.

My Pokemon has that too. I kow what caused it on my game. My Pokemon had pokerus then when I keeped them in my party for awile that smillyface poped up. I hoped I helped u.

Well I am not that much of an expert here, but I believe that means that your Pokemon either has been infected with a(n awesome) disease called Pokerus, or it has maxed out in friendship and happiness level with you. Pokerus is not a bad thing. I believe it is a great thing because whenever you level up your Pokemon I believe it makes your pokemon's stats a lot higher by add bigger numbers each time.
