which one to choose

Well with most of the bosses this game throws at you for your partner I would go with the treeko for some type advantage and then from personal experience mudkip, riolu, and charmander level up fastest but it's har to evolve riolu so id go with charmander to maximise your chance of beating opponents with a fire grass combo... But thats my opinion so I would say go with charmander and treecko

Mudkip is the best choice, I went with mudkip as my partner as I was a phanpy in the quiz at the start, when I play I look like a freakin elephant

I'd say riolu and mudkip cause mudkip as a water and ground type and riolu as a fighting and steel type would make a good advantage as a double type team.trust me I've been playing Pokemon fo years.i always carry a riolu,lucario,mudkip,and swampert.

Riolu and Bulbasaur.Riolu is very good with Force Palm,it sometimes paralyzes foes and Bulbasaur with a TM Giga Drain helps Bulbasaur to stay alive longer. P.S.........this is my team and I beat the game in no time!

Chikorita and Riolu. Winning combo! Riolu can make beating Dialga a breeze, while Chikorita (grass) and Palkia (Water-Dragon)...you get the picture. I know this because my team is that combo!

vulpix as my partner twice made me fly through the game with both shinx and riolu.

My last game, I did Mudkip (me) and a Riolu (partner) and I was through the game in less than a week, all the way up to the Hidden Land, in no time flat. The only issue with that team would be to level them up past 42 at least before you attempt to take on the end of the Hidden Land peoples, because you'll be like me and get stuck with nowhere to go.

I was riolu and chimchar, but riolu and charmander would probably work as well. Riolu handles dialga and charmander takes on the grass dungeons that are so common throughout the game.

Types are important, but not as important as how well you know how to use a pokemon's strengths to make their weaknesses not so severe.

I'm personally really good with the Pikachu family and the Treecko family and currently have a Raichu and Grovyle but it's depends on what type you're good with.

Speed/Jumping (beware that they might lack in the brute force department):

All-Around-Types (they might have equal stat for everything or close to equal):
