Yuo also need a lonk cable and you can find these in solar cave in the locked rooms or surrounded by water
You also need a Link Cable. You can find one in place of HMs in Solar Cave.
MetalCoat is the only item for Scyther to evolve...no exceptions or other things
Cyber_john, will you ever get an answer correct? You're really giving out a lot of misinformation-just get your facts straight, please! There's enough confusion out there already without you making more! I'd like to see you make a Scyther into a Scizor without a LINK CABLE since you cannot trade in these games!!! GRRR!
You can find a link cable right away behind the locked door on Floor 10 of Solar Cave by the way, then you'll find others where HM's and other stuff was behind locked doors.
