I had a very easy time, but I have a Lucario Rank and my leader is Level 54, so I'm sure that helped. You need to return to Mt. Thunder for Zapados, Mt. Blaze for Moltres, & Mt. Freeze for Articuno. I'm pretty sure the order doesn't matter, and you don't need to buy a friend area first-you'll get it when you catch the first one. I got each in 3-4 tries, but when you save at the Kanghaskhan statue to save, you can keep going back to that point(it's not a quicksave), and go up a few floors to try again(unless you want to scale the whole mountain each time!). When you get to the bird, get and stay one tile away(next to it), and keep on hitting until you knock it out-but you must be in a 1 tile range and the leader must do the "kill", try a few times with your highest level Pokemon, it's really not that hard. I got all 3 in about 45 minutes. Just keep trying until it joins, then move onto the next one. If you're having too much trouble, I'd work on raising your Team Ranking and/or your Pokemon's levels-the birds are Level 45(Zapodos), 52(Moltres), & 53(Artincuno) when you get them, so maybe that's why I had an easy time...

After you beat raquaza go back to there palce they where before and now you can recruit them
