I am a level 100 charmander. Is it a good idea to go to mount steel yet?

If you mean lvl 10, then probably. If you mean 100, yes yes yes! You'd be able to beat the game with a lvl 100 Charmander!

I want to ask you if you're kidding, but I'm guessing you're not. OK, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but what exactly have you been doing to get to Level 100? Just going on missions for Tiny Woods & Thunderwave Cave? If so, then you're WAY overtrained-the Mt. Steel mission to save Diglett was the 3rd major one in the story mode, you could've tackled it just a few missions after Thunderwave Cave! I ended story mode with Mudkip & Pikachu somewhere in the mid to high 30's level wise. I can only imagine how boring you must think this game is if you've only been in 2 dungeons! It's an easy 9 floors in Mt. Steel-especially with a level 100 Pokemon-just bring an apple or two since there aren't any in there. Then you'll easily cruise through that mission and the others well into after the main story mode is over (Sky Tower-defeat Rayquazza), seriously! Don't be afraid of trying any mission-mainly the ones you must do which you should be able to handle, just save first and as long as you don't quicksave you can always shut it off and be back where you started intact and with all your stuff.(Except later on when you have to quicksave in certain dungeons, but that's a ways off yet!) You should glance over some off these pages off Q & A to get an idea of what to expect, and commonly asked stufff, like when can you evolve your Pokemon (after you finish the main story mode you can) or whatever.
But, definitely get to Mt. Steel, you're way overdue! The story has barely begun to unfold yet! Good Luck!
