I dun really care about de fire types. I would say Mudkip & Charmander
pimpblue answered:

Mudkip OF COURSE!!!!! Because 3 reason(s):
he's 2 types!
he can learn MOST TM's + HM's!
he's strong all throughout the story mode(cuz the bosses +legendaries+opponents are MOSTLY all Fire-types!!!

And, charmander+torchic are EQUAL!! Because they're really just the same, THAT'S ALL!! ANYONE of those 2firey dudes would go GOOD with mudkip(i suggest torchic!)!!

Actually, Mudkip is just water type. When he evolves into Marshtomp, then he is water/ground type. And frankly, I prefer Charmander/torchic, and Squirtle/Mudkip

When charmander becomes charzard, he is weaker then torchic because he is fire/flying so he takes 4x damage from rock attacks.
EL BARTORITO answered:

I had a cyndiquil and a squirtle and I beat the game in a couple of days my friend used a cyndiquil and a mudkip put it took him a month so I think squirtle because he learns protect, bubble (long range) and water gun.

MUDKIP! MUDKIP!
BBG_CREECAT answered:

Mudkip without a doubt! He's perfect-and if you give him TM-Ice Beam he's even more useful while you're waiting for stronger moves. I beat the game quickly with him and I've been at Lucario Rank for more than a month now. Personally, I used Pikachu as a partner, and had an easy time with them, but if you're stuck on a fire type them I'd pick Charmander since he gets better or stronger moves earlier then the others.

Charmander is definitely a good starter because it has good stats and is a favorite fire type pokemon of mine + charmander when it's charizard learns awesome dragon type moves
Mr Mario 4 U answered:

I beat the game with Torchic and Squirtle. Torchic rocks because he's got high offense and has easy learning IQ. Squirtle has good defense. They go together perfectly!

MUDKIP! MUDKIP!

If you want to base it on stats. , here's the info. I've gathered regarding your query. Of course, you don't really base a Pokemon's strength on stats alone. There are certain skills and abilities that you need to take into consideration and of course, special abilities.

Squirtle at level 33:
Attack/Defense: 53/50
Sp. Atk./Sp. Def.: 52/51

Totodile at level 33:
Attack/Defense: 52/50
Sp. Atk./Sp. Def.: 50/50

Mudkip at level 33:
Attack/Defense: 52/50
Sp. Atk./Sp. Def.: 52/50

I chose Charmander and Treecko as my base.

Charmander has a high offense and a great deal of movepool. At a certain level, he gets to learn heat wave , an A.O.E type of skill that has huge amount of fire power so you won't really need to exhaust more on other skills because it gets the job done and fast. I use it for two main reasons,
1.) You know that one step gap you have between you and the boss Pokemon of a certain dungeon? Of course, that puts you at an advantage when you have a Pokemon with a long range ability. Heat wave is also one of those.
2.) Also, you can wipe out an army with that one move.
When it evolves into a Charizard, it can learn dragon type moves.

Treecko has a life steal ability , absorb . It comes in really handy specially when you don't have any potions in your pack and it learns mega drain early. Bullet seed is one of the few skills that I must say, is really important in defeating the game. It can hit enemies up to five times and has a great deal of grass type power.

Of course, this combination would be better used in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon RED rescue team. But the combination is also effective in the BLUE rescue team version (the one I'm working on right now).

very insightful! thumbs up!
Guest answered:

Fire types I'm not really psyched about fires. I would choose Charmander because when turns into charzard, he is a dragon and a fire type. Wicked! And I would choose Mudkip because he is a groud type and a water type. Woooohoooo! And last there are the grass types. I would choose Treeko because it's just has a lot of speed I think in general. Beasts!

Guest answered:

Id say Totodile.

Guest answered:

Totodile. Find the tm water pulse early on and he easily is the best. Use a wonder mail s generator to get water pulse if need be, and force punch

Totodile is great! Squirtle is okay, but Totodile has the higher tallies.
Guest answered:

I would say squirtle, purely because blastoise has such amazing stats. I fought kecleons alone with mainly my normal attack until I ran out of time on the floor and didn't even have to use a reviver seed! (bear in mind I'm lv100, but I have other lv100s that are half as good as my blastoise)
