You should link two of your best moves for both of your Pokemon so you do more damage.
You will want to level them up a lot you wont have a chance
What I did was started by throwing a grvelrock(by the way I had picachu, and I was charmander)then I just attacked with ember, and had oran berrys at the ready incase I needed to heal. I ended up beating him in about 2 hits, so it's really not that hard once you get to him.
