How do you remove you're partner how I want my partner to standby but I don't know how here like this I started with charmander and totodile but how do I make totodile stand by so I can explore alone

When you beat Raquaza they will tell you about the Luminous Cave.
After that your partner will ask if you want to split up answer yes.
If you don't answer yes, I think you can always have them stand by later. You just go to their friends area, talk to them, and select 'stand by'.
