I want to know... If alternating A and B could improve the catch rate of a thrown pokeball by a little. Is this possible? (People also said you could do this in emerald as well.)

this was a very old myth dated back to red and blue day, and that is what it is a myth it goes the same way if pushing the D-pad different directions before starting a wild battle to get a rare Pokemon for that area.sadly it wont increase the catch rate only because there has been no proven data as well

thumbs if it helps

Forgoten_Scars answered:

It's completely false. There's no proof supporting the fact that it would help. I believe it was just said to get people to do stupid things and get their hopes up. It's about the same as they myth about yelling at your game to get it to catch a Pokemon.

Guest answered:

no but if you have superballs only and hold b up it increeses catch rate by approx. 15%

Guest answered:

no but pressing a over and over will

Guest answered:

When the pokeball is open once you throw it, press a over and over until it closes. then hold B.
This sometimes works. I caught soodowoodo (the one that looks like a tree) that had 3/4 full health doing that:D
It is pure luck when it works and I do it every time i try and catch something.
