They return to their pokeball. But when you get off I think they go back out.

That's correct if your on the bike they go back into their Pokeballs, when you start walking/running they get out of the Pokeball and follow you, just like what Pikachu did in Pokemon Yellow (if you remember.)

Yes they go in there pokeballs haha funny name just like in yellow version because I use to have that game and my bros friend still has it working
