So, use the Explorer Kit to go Underground. If you don't have one, to to Eterna City and go in the house next to the bike place. Talk to the old man and he'll give it to you. You can use the Explorer Kit anywhere as long as it's not indoors or in a cave. Once you're underground, there should be two screens; the map on the top screen, and the actual place on the touch screen. If you walk around for a bit, some yellow dots might appear on the map. Go to where those yellow dots are, and be careful once you're in the area. Touch the touch screen, and some yellow diamonds should appear; some might be on the floor, and some might be on the wall. The diamonds on the floor are traps; the diamonds on the wall is where the fun begins. Go in front of the wall [where a yellow diamond appeared] and press "A". Here, you select which tool you want to use [Pickaxe or Hammer; I'd use a Hammer] and then you just randomly touch the touch screen to dig out some items. You have a limited amount of hits you can dig into the wall; if you hit the wall too many times, the wall collapses.

Moving on, once you're used to that, you should have probably noticed that you'll mostly be finding Spheres. However, there's a chance that you'll run into Stones, Evolution Stones, Shards, Fossils, and other items [Starpiece, Revive, Max Revive, etc.] You'll sometimes run into Fossils, but they're not the most common items to run into; you'll need patience.

Another hint: if you don't fully dig out an item, the item still gets buried when the wall collapses. You MUST fully dig out the item to obtain it.

Good luck finding fossils.

Dont ask the same question twice in a row dude. To get a fossil all you really need it the explorer kit. Just hit use and go underground and keep digging until you find some really weird looking thing, odds are it's a fossil. Take it up to oreburgh city and give it to the scientist to get a brand new cranidos if you have pearl of course.

One super hint is:
1)go to snow point city.
2)use the explorer kit and walk right to the bottom of the alley way
3)plant all the spheres you find and have until you get to the openeing of the alley
4)wait a few days (aprox. A week) and go down again)
5)When you go down there, there will be endless traces of items to be dug up. Even fossils from pre-games. These are like old amber, and claw fossil. ^_^
