Question for Pokemon Diamond

Hey you guys are awesome at answering my questions. Thanks alot for that. I got a few more gor you guys. I made a new team of Pokemon that I like. Not necessarily the best, but I like them. I would like to know what type they are good for. For example, I've heard of sweepers and tanks, but I don't know any other types. So what I would like to know is what type the Pokemon are and what a good move set is for them. So here they are:

Aerodoctyl
Fly
Crunch
Ancient power
Ice fang

Snorlax
Rest
Snore
Rollout
Rock climb

Manectric
Thunderbolt
Thunderwave
Bite
Howl

Victreebel
Razor leef
Sleep powder
Poison powder
Acid

Dragonite
Flamethrower
Surf
Outrage (want dragon claw but don't know where to find it)
Dragon dance

And I want a good water Pokemon, I'm so indecisive when it comes to water, so please help me choose a good one. I've been thinking about wailord, swampert (but I don't want a starter), golduck, or others. So please tell me any comments and good move sets for those pokemon. Also feel free to suggest switching out Pokemon for others. Thanks alot to whoever helps me. I really appreciate it.

Id replace snorlax with palkia. Snorlax has normal moves which are effective against nothing. Palkia's only weakness is dragon. And it can learn a wide variety of moves.

Get rid of dragonites surf for another dragonmove and repalce his flamethrower with some else.

Get a good fire pokemon. You could try groudon, or maybe a fire starter (but you don't want any, just a suggestion) or maybe arcanine. Hes fast has his sp att/att (cant remember which) or even rapidash.

mitsu answered:

Yeah, it sounds like a pretty good team to me. Nice, solid, varied.

I tend to use Pokemon that have two types, so swampert would be a good idea. Or empoleon. Or quagsire or chinchou/lanturn.

Swampert: ground/water
Empoleon: water/steel
Quagsire: water/ground
Chinchou: water/electric
Lanturn: water/electric

There are others that have two types, and that's how i'd go.

*I'd give your victreebell a really strong grass move.

*I'd try to find some good dragon moves for your dragonite, for when, you battle other dragons, (or get a yellow flute to use when outrage finishes and it gets confused) but the fire move is good defence if your dragonite comes up against an ice type. (which dragons are weak against ice moves, but ice are weak when hit with fire.)

*I'd replace manectric's 'howl' with 'thunder' but keep 'bite'.

*snorlax is ok. Looks really good. And so does aerodactyl.

Good job!

david_banner answered:

You should probably modify snorlax a bit. If you want rest, you are probably better off using rest, sleep talk, facade and perhaps rock slide if you can get it. Personally I would go with curselax because he rocks, curse earthquake rest and rock slide. Manectric I would probably swap howl with roar. On victreebell I would try and swap one of the powders with a life restoring move such as giga drain or synthesis. Now just my opinion again, I would swap victreebell with either heracross or breloom. Might want to swap surf for aerial ace or anything flying move on dragonite, otherwise you are not taking advantage of the attack boost from dragon dance and you arent getting any stab with surf. For a water Pokemon I always suggest starmie modest nature with surf, psychic, thunderbolt and ice beam. That is a seriously sick poke.

Lugia_Dude answered:

If you haven't beaten the Elite 4 yet, I suggest a Gyarados. If you have beaten the E4, migrate to get a Blastoise, or maybe a Kingdra since he has one weakness: Dragon. Poliwrath is pretty good aswell.

Good team of Pokemon. Here is your team, including a Water Pokemon, with my recommended movesets and held items:

Aerodactyl holding Passho Berry:

Stone Edge
Roost (if you didn't teach it to any of your Pokemon yet)/Fly
Thunder Fang
Iron Head

Snorlax holding Lum Berry:

Rock Climb
Rest
Recycle (if you didn't teach it to any of your Pokemon yet)/Sleep Talk
Crunch

Manectric holding Shuca Berry:

Flamethrower
Charge Beam (if you didn't teach it to any of your Pokemon yet)/Thunderbolt
Thunder Wave
Roar

Leafeon holding Salac Berry:

Swords Dance
X-Scissor
Leaf Blade
Synthesis

Dragonite holding Yache Berry:

Dragon Rush (I don't know where to find Dragon Claw. Sorry.)
Dragon Dance
Roost
Fire Punch

Kingler holding Salac Berry:

Endure
Flail
Crabhammer
X-Scissor

Additional infomation: You can find more Heart Scales by digging them up in the underground. You get the moves X-Scissor and Stone Edge at the Battle Park Exchange Service Corner. X-Scissor costs 64 BP, and Stone Edge costs 81 BP. Endure and Swords Dance are prizes at the Game Corner Exchange Center. Roost is found in Route 210 by talking to somebody north of Solaceon Town.

P.S. I'm not an expert on sweepers and tanks, so I can't tell you anything about that stuff. Sorry. P.S.S. You should get an Action Replay, if you don't already have one.

Here we go, I'm really good at team ratings... So let's see here:

Aerodactyl - Fly is a horrible move, as much as I'd like to say "But it helps you get places faster!" That's not the point, if you want it for competitive reasons, ditch it. The standard set is as follows:

Double Edge
Stone Edge/Rock Slide
Earthquake
Aerial Ace/Ice Fang/Dragon Claw/Puruit
Held Item: Life orb/Choice Band/Expert Belt
Nature: Jolly (+Speed, - Sp Atk) Or Adamant (+Atk, - Sp Atk)
Ability: Rock Head
EV's: 252 Attack/252 Speed/6 HP

Rock Head means you can abuse Double Edge like crazy. Stone Edge/Rock Slide for STAB and type coverage. Earthquake for more type coverage, the last slot is up for whatever. If you want, take Ice Fang first and put it over Double Edge, therefore allowing you to KO Dragons easy with still another easy slot to fill. Aerial Ace would offer STAB, but it only KO's Fighting types and Grass types. Most Fighting types are Dual types (IE, Blaziken/Infernape) with types Aerodactyl can already destroy with. Pursuit is a great last slot filler for Focus Sashers that are slower than you, trying to escape, instead they die from Pursuit.

Snorlax - Again, HM moves (Except Surf and Waterfall) suck in 4th Generation. Snorlax has A LOT of sets to offer. CurseLax is probably the most overused and most effective one. This is the set.

Body Slam
Earthquake / Crunch
Curse
Rest
Item Attached: Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 140 HP / 116 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)

Set up with Curse, and you're really annoying to take down. You can take physical hits, and special hits. Body Slam for Paralyzing ability, plus it gets MONSTEROUS STAB if you have Curse up. Earthquake or Crunch is up to choice, you can either be Eaten by Gengar with Earthquake, or be eaten by Tyranitar and choose Crunch. Rest off hits then come back and kill.

Manectric... I got no experience with it, sorry.

Victreebell - This is a set I know of... Just a special set or something, I dunno.

-Sunny Day
-SolarBeam
-Sludge Bomb
-HP Ground/Fire
Held Item: Dry Rock/Focus Sash
Nature:Modest
Ability: Chlorophyll
EV's: 20 SPD, 252 SPATK, 236 HP

Dragonite - Easy, make a Dragon Dance one for physical sweeping.

Move #1: Dragon Dance
Move #2: Earthquake
Move #3: Outrage / Dragon Claw
Move #4: Fire Blast / Fire Punch / Thunder Punch
Held Item: Focus Sash / Life Orb / Leftovers / Lum berry
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Inner Focus
EV's: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP

Hope I helped.

-Esp
