Question for Pokemon Diamond
Please can someone help me. I'm new to this game, I've beaten the fisrt three gym leaders and now I'm on the fourth, I can't battle them because thev'e gone out, I talk to the person in the gym and he tells me to explore more of the sinnoh region, iv'e being in cave and every house but when I return to the gym they are still not there please can someone help me this is doing my head in.

The fourth badge is really like the sixth or seventh what you need to do is skip it then come back later.

That is not the fourth gym, it is the fifth gym. The gym in Pastoria is where the fourth gym is located, the leader is Crasher Wake, the Water type gym leader. Then afterf you beat him, you run deal with a couple Galactic goons, and run an errand for Cynthia, then you are able to battle the fifth gym leader.

Well the 3rd gym is in veilstone and before that when you are in hearthome the leader is not there you have to explore. The fourth gym leader is in pastoria and I don't think he ever leaves the gym. So your game is messed because the wrong person is missing. Unless there is some key part you missed along the way

It took me a while to figure out what you're saying, just to find out that you're thinking of the gym in Hearthome City [you could have just said that, you know...] That's the fifth gym. The fourth gym is located in Pastoria City. While you're in Pastoria, go in the Great Marsh Safari place and talk to a guy to your right at the entrance. He'll give you HM05 Defog. Okay, you're done here. Beat the gym leader in town, talk to some Galactic Member in the northeast, and chase after him [prepare for a rival battle along the way]. Heal up after the rival battle, and continue chasing him until you battle him. Once you beat him, Cynthia will come up and give you the Secretpotion to give to the Psyduck on Route 210. So, fly to Solaceon Town and go north and give the Psyduck the Secretpotion, and talk to Cynthia again. She'll give you the Old Charm which you'll need to give to her grandmother in Celestic Town. Guess where the northern route of route 210 leads? So, go to Celestic Town using Defog to help you out. Battle the Galactic guy in the middle of the city, and talk to the old lady. You'll give her the Old Charm and she'll ask you to take a look inside the cave. Go in, and examine the wall in the back. She'll come in again and give you HM03 Surf.
Now, go back to Hearthome and go to the Contest Hall, and talk to Fantina [the fifth gym leader] in front of the entrance. She'll go back to the gym, and you can now battle her and obtain the first 5 badges.
