Question for Pokemon Diamond

I already had to restart because some guys were gaurding the lake Acuity and I hadn't been to the city behind it. But now I don't know how to get across the lake because it is dried up. How do I get to Snowpoint city? Also,if I have to get the Sunyshore city badge first like my rival told me to, how do I get past the guy who keeps telling me they had a blackout? Please answer asap.

I am not completely sure but it's worth a try. I think that you won't be able to get into Sunyshore City or Snowpoint before you go and talk to the professor and your Rival at the library in Canalave city. He will assign you and your rival and his daughter each one of the three lakes in Sinnoh.(But you will wind up visiting all three). There you battle team Galaxy and have the chance to capture Azelf, Mespirit, and the other one(Forgot the name Sorry). I suggest if you haven't used your Masterball, now is not the time! Unless you just want one of them really bad, I would save it until Cresselia. After you do all that the road to either Sunyshore or Snowpoint should be available! Hoped I could help!(:
