Same Type Attack Bonus. It multiplies the damage of a move by 1.5 if the move type is the same as your Pokemon type.

Thats what STAB means. An exsample of STAB:if your using a Gengar and attack using a Poison type move that move's power shall be 1.5 stronger because Gengar is part Poison. If you use a Ghost type move with Gengar STAB still happens, but if you use a move like Focus Blast for exsample it won't become stronger because there won't be STAB. So if your Pokemon is the same type as the move it's using STAB will make it 1.5 stronger.
