When a you get an egg, the Pokemon can learn egg moves from the father (which, remember, doesn't have to be the same as the Mom, just in the same egg group) If the father knows the move, the child will learn it fom him. But only the moves the child can learn as egg moves. It will also learn TMs it could learn normally from it's Dad, Level-up moves from BOTH parents and then have any basic moves if there's any room left.

The baby Pokemon learns egg moves if the mom or dad know moves that the baby could learn by either level up, or TMs but TM's can only be learned from the dad.
