Answered in reverse order...

3) A red Gyarados is actually just a shiny version of a normal gyarados, and so can be encountered in the same way in Diamond and Pearl, as a very rare shiny encounter. It featured prominently in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal as a Pokemon that had been forced to evolve early by team Rocket, thus making it stay red like a magicarp. There was also an episode of the Pokemon series that freatured and explained the red Gyarados's story in more depth.

Apart from actually catching this red Gyarados in G/S/C (and the possibility that it will feature as a catchable Pokemon event in the hotly rumoured DawnSilver/DuskGold possible releases for DS) the only real way to get a red Gyarados is if you encounter it as a shiny Pokemon in the wild, or encounter a shiny magicarp (which are gold) and evolve that into a shiny Gyarados. These events are incredibly rare, and you will be incredibly lucky to even encounter ANY shiny Pokemon, let alone actually getting a shiny Gyarados. I have been playing Pokemon daily for at least six years, and I have only ever caught two shiny Pokemon (one was that red Gyarados in Gold, and a Spinarak.) and I have seen only one other, my friend had a shiny Exeggutor.

Or you can use an Action Replay and cheat your way to one. The one mentioned at the start of Diamond and Pearl are just the fancies of a children's television program that your character is watching, not an event that happens in game.

2) Mystery items are the Mystery Gifts you receive from Nintendo Pokemon events that happen in real life after a game's release.

1)You may obtain a Dratini by fishing with a super rod behind the waterfall in Mt. Coronet. (go through the waterfall.) They are uncommon, so keep trying until you get one!

mitsu answered:

Oh the episode featuring the red Gyarados in the Pokemon anime series is:

Episode 237: 'Talkin bout an evolution'

Here is the Serebii pages on it:

Blazel answered:

1) Fish up Dratini in the Waterfall in Mt. Cornet with a super rod.

2) You mean Mystery gift. Get them in Nintendo events.

3) Red gyarados is just the shiny version of a gyarados.

sk8rboy answered:

1) You can find a Dritini when fishing with the Super Rod by the waterfall. They are pretty uncommon to find. So just keep searching.

2) Mystery Items are items that you get through Mystery Gift.

3) This Red Gyarados is just a shiny Gyarados. All shing Pokemon are extremely rare to come by. You will be super lucky to find a single shiny Pokemon. I had 8 shinies on my Diamond before it got corrupted, and had to start a new game. I got 4 of them in trades. Well anyway, you can find a Gyarados nearly anywhere when using a Super Rod. You will be very lucky to encounter a shiny Gyarados.

Cosmic Demon answered:

1. The way I got my dratini is I migrated from my leaf green.

2. I don't know what you mean

3. I don't think the red gyrados exists
