I live in a very rural area so if I wanted to go to a nintendo event how would I do so

Ah man, that really sucks for your part. If you wanted to attend an Nintendo Event, then you would have to head to a major city like Los Angeles. There are other ways that you could be a part of a Nintendo Event though. More recently, events are being held in Toys 'R' Us stores all across the nation. You can go inside a Toys 'R' Us, and then use the mystery Gift option in order to receive your event Pokemon. The best thing for you though, since you live so far out, is to buy an Action Replay DS.
