Any one is good. I myself picked Torterra. He can defeat both Pokemon with earthquake, but any of the three can defeat the other starters.

Well, I don't know, I cannot tell you which Pokemon you should pick at the beginning of the game, how about you pick the one that you like the most. If you do not know that type each of the Pokemon are, then I will tell you. Turtwig is a leaf type Pokemon, Piplup is a water type Pokemon, and Chimchar is a fire Pokemon. Chimchar is the fastest Pokemon, Turtwig has the highest defense, and Piplup has the best attack. I myself chose Chimchar, but it's up for you to decide which Pokemon you want.

Well that is a tough choice now isn't it. You know that choosing your started has shown to be the most tough disision a person will come across in your game.
Putting all fellings aside i'd say that the two best choices are both chimchar and piplup. Chimchar will evolve into Infernape, a Pokemon with exellent speed, moderatly good attack, and special attack ( which gives you a lot of free room when disiding on attacks) and simi- low defence and special defence. It should allow you to breeze through you game easily with minimum training. ( level 55 by the time you reach the Pokemon league) with a bit of trouble at the Pokemon league. Piplups final evolved stage Empolion will have good defence, special defence along with a high special attack. It's only drawback is speed with is a little low ( but not terrible ) it should be a really handy durring the Pokemon league, but you may have small trouble throgh your game.
As for Torterra ( Turtwig's final stage ) it's an exellent Pokemon, exeeding in defence, and attack, but will take some real damage under the powerfull of a moderatly powerd ice attack...( x4 damage to be exact )
Ps. You should train a lucario, it is awsome. Good, yet ballanced stats all around. Plus it's aura sphere should turn into it's best move ( depending on it's nature )
