What does the "recive a gift from friend" opion in mystery gift do and how do you activate it?

It's just the thing you use to obtain gifts from pokmemon special events that are held not long after the game's release. Not sure what sort of things you could 'receive from a friend' unless you can trade items without trading pokemon...

Well, I thought it would be kinda obvious by the title. The "receive a gift from a friend" option lets you get a gift from a friend lol. If you are playing with a friend who has Mystery Gift unlocked on their game, then you two can exchange gifts with one another. You can activate the Mystery gift exchange by just being on Mystery Gift the same time as your friend is, and clicking on a gift when you are prompted to. Hope this helps.

If a friend near you has received a gift and is able to pass it on to others, you go to that to receive it.
