You had me laughing at the end, smileys do not work on the main site, only in the forums. There are a lot of good Pokemon, why don't you just go look in the Supercheats Pokedex, or on serebii.net? I cannot name a really good Pokemon, Garchomp, Houndoom, there are too many. There stats are mostly even. Actually, a good Pokemon to have would be Giratina you can get that when you get the national pokedex, and after you beat the elite four.

I agree with Cheating-Is-Good. There technically isn't any good pokemon. Every type has advantages over other types, and disadvantages to other types. Really, it all depends on the trainer, how the Pokemon is raised, it's stats, it's moves, etc. Of cours, a level 100 Dialga would easily crush a level 5 Chimchar. So just raise your Pokemon, and teach them moves that match there types.

My ultimate is Blaziken (My blaziken I traded from sapphire). Level 100. It knows dig, double kick, overheat and ariel ace. Simple moves I know, but they're so affective, and just amazingly important for any game weather it be leaf green, diamond, sapphire or whatever! I suggest Blaziken becuase Torchic is an easy one to level up, plus every team needs a brilliant fire type. Try to give it moves that are all different. You would want a structure like so:

Overheat
Fire Blast
Flamethrower
Ember

Because that is just ridiculous, having all the moves the same type. The effect of each move will be so similar it would just be pointless fighting with that Pokemon.
Now of course, if you don't have the GBA games, try Infernape. That was my starter on Diamond version (chimchar), and I got so far with it. It's moves are Flamethrower, Rock Tomb, Ariel Ace and Close Combat. Like double kick (as I said before with my blaziken), Close Combat is an amazing fighting type move, and is almost nescesary for every trainer. The combination of moves goes well - Fire, Rock, Flying and Fighting. If your Pokemon has varied moves, it has a better chance of leveling up if you use the same Pokemon for a whole battle weather the opponent has 1 Pokemon or 6 pokemon!
Anyway, I hope I have helped, but please do considder Blaziken, and if not, Infernape.

So of the stronger [howeverm not best] Pokemon are those such as Dragonite, Tyranitar, Garchomp, Electivire, Rhyperior, Weavile, Roserade, etc. I have a very good starter team for you; it's an easy team to manage, and not so hard to obtain, unless of course you didn't chose Chimchar as your starter pokemon.

Infernape
Adamant Nature
- Fire Punch/Flame Wheel
- Close Combat/Brick Break
- Stone Edge/Rock Slide
- Earthquake/Sword Dance

Roserade
Modest Nature
- Energy Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball
- Toxic

Weavile
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch/Ice Shard
- Night Slash
- Aerial Ace/Brick Break
- Brick Break/Sword Dance

Gachomp
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Rush/Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Fire Fang/Sword Dance

Alakazam
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

Lapras
Modest Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Sing/Thunder Wave/Toxic

To get Lapras, you do have to beat the Elite Four and obtain the National Pokedex, but obtaining the National Pokedex is easy once you beat the Elite Four, and beating the Elite Four is simple with the other five Pokemon, so it works out nicely for you.

Use whatever moves work out best for you; it's your choice. It all works out nicely in the end, anyhow.

Hi to me the best Pokemon would be spiritomb if you can get one because there is no attack that is super effective but you go with whatever you like best.
