What happens when you finish both the Local, and the National Pokedex? Well, I will tell you, prepare yourself because what happens is... Absolutely nothing. I am dead serious, you go talk to Professor. Rowan, or Professor Oak, and all they say is congratulations you did it, you found every single Pokemon in the world. Then that is it, then you jsut walk around, and... Do stuff.

Nothing happens, basically. You just get congratulated by the professor.
Though in emerald/ruby/sapphire, if you bring the pokedex to the Game Designer in the last city he will give you an award of some sort.
I'm sure there is also a person like this in Diamond, but I'm not sure of his exact location.

When you complete the pokedex's you talk to professor rowan and he wll say some stuff. If you have diamond: Go to the town place at Valor Lake front and in one of the houses to the left, the person inside the house happens to be the game designer and he will say a couple of things and you will then see a certificate and after that....you never get to see the certificate again. Now the game has nothing to do....congratulations you have completed the game!

Sounds like it's time you either frame that game and hang it on your wall, or start a new game and erase everything you accomplished.
But seriously, you can raise your "dream team" and level them to level 100 with the perfect moveset. You can also do the Battle Tower and Pokemon Contest. Play in the Sinnoh Underground with some friends!
Basically, just get a gold trainer card. Then do whatever you want.

Well nothing happens at all!!!!but I really wanted to start the game again it gets kinda boring after!

Well nothing happens at all I was very mad I was hopeing prof.oak would give you the chance to get charmander,squrtle or bulbasur or something like that but they just congraduate you.....anoying -__-

All you do is got to Professor Oak and he will tell you "Good Job!, You have completed the pokedex!" Then, if you want to, you can get a gold trainer card with 5 stars on it.
How to get the 5 stars:
1.Defeat the Elite Four.
2.Win any master rank super contest.
3.Get a Platinum flag underground by capturing 50 flags.
4.Get all Battle Frontier Colored Plates.
5.Catch all 493 pokemon.
And that's basically it.
