Pokerus is a very good, as you might have already noticed. When a Pokemon has it, their IV's (which are the amount of EV's gained) will double when you level them up by battling. Using rare candies while they have Pokerus won't affect them at all; so, to take advantage of Pokerus, you should battle strong trainers. All in all, their stats grow faster by a bigger amount. While they normally increase by two or three points, and the occasion four, they will grow up by at least four points; five, six, and even a higher amount of points. In some cases, by constant and dedicated EV Training, a pokemon's stat can be increased by 30 or 40 points. I've done this myself; but like I said, it takes dedication.

Pokerus is very good to have. When a Pokemon has it, their stats will go higher than normal. It will last a certain ammount of time before the Pokemon is cured from it.

Pokerus is a random and very Rare "Pokemon Virus" that can be found on wild pokemon. It can be obtained by either capturing the Infected or defeating it in battle, when the pokerus may spread to your pokemon. To transfer Pokerus to your other Pokemon, you must have the Pokerus infected Pokemon in your party, in the first slot. Have the other Pokemon you wish to transfer the virus (it works best with one other Pokemon in your party) Have the infected battle low level Pokemon (Fastest way to do it) and after about 8 battles, the pokerus should've passed to the other pokemon. What Pokerus does, is double the amount of EV's your Pokemon gains in a battle. An example being, you fight a Zubat, which gives 1 speed EV, defeating it with a pokerus Pokemon will give you 2 EVs. Every 4 Evs is equal to one stat when you level that Pokemon up. You are limited to 512 Evs per Pokemon, and 255 Evs per stat. However, Pokerus only stays around for 3 days maximun, so to keep the Virus active, you ssimply deposit the Infected Pokemon into your Pc to reset the timer. A Yellow Smiley face on your Pokemon's picture means it has had pokerus.

It is a virus on the pokemon. You have a better chance of finding this in a shiny Pokemon and also it has higher stats than normal

Twilight_Sasuke answered:

Pokerus is no ordinary virus this virus will help your Pokemon by, increasing their stats faster, making it alot stronger and more effective in battle. Pokerus will go away in a few days, but the beneficial effects will last forever. So spread it to your other Pokemon that will help you help heaps. I hoped this helped answered your question.

The Pokrus is a Pokmon enhancing virus. It first appeared in Pokmon Gold and Silver.

In that game, Pokmon had a 1 in 21,845 chance to become infected with the virus. This slim chance meant that most players would never encounter it.

Pokmon also obtained from a Pokmon Rocks America event organized by Nintendo came infected with the virus.

After being infected, a Pokmon's status will read "Pokrus". A nurse in a Pokmon Center will notice that there are "small life forms" on the Pokmon. Professor Elm will then call the player to say that the Pokrus has no effect and will wear off.

A Pokmon with the Pokrus will infect other Pokmon in the Trainer's active party while walking, battling, or healing at a Pokmon Center.

Pokrus will not infect other Pokmon if it's stored in the PC, and will only become immune while in a Trainer's party.

Additionally, in Diamond and Pearl Pokrus can infect eggs that have not hatched. When the Pokmon is born, it will be infected with the Pokrus, if it has not worn off before it has hatched.

In Pokmon Gold and Silver, it took about two days for a Pokmon's immune system to fight off the virus. After recovering from the virus, a little dot appears on the Pokmon's status screen indicating that it is immune to the virus and impossible to reinfect.

This disease is actually a good thing. The Pokrus doubles the Effort Values received from battles. This causes the stats of a Pokmon to grow twice as fast while still leveling up at a normal rate. This is especially helpful in raising Pokmon caught at a high level, since it is difficult to raise their Effort Values to maximum before Level 100.

After a Pokmon's immune system fights off the virus, it will still be able to gain double Effort Values permanently. However, it will not be able to infect other Pokmon with the beneficial enhancement at that stage. Also, at this stage, in Generation IV, a smiley face will appear on the Pokmon's summary screen.
